Aspen Mountain

Aspen Mountain is going to open the ski and snowboard runs from the very top of the mountain all the way to the bottom.  You will be able to ride your skis and snowboards all the way down to the Little Nell today.  This is all a benefit for the Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club. The top of the mountain accessesd by the Ajax Express chairlift will also be open. Many of the trails on other parts of Aspen Mountain will also be open such as upper Bell Mountain, which includes Sunrise, Sunset, Back of Bell 1, Knowlton’s and Seibert’s says The Aspen Skiing Company.

Three lifts which include The Silver Queen Gondola, Ajax Express and Gent’s Ride chair lifts are scheduled to be open. Two of the rest The Aspen Skiing Company restaurants which include The Sundeck and Ajax Tavern should also be open for mountain goers.

Lift tickets are being sold at a reduced rate of $40 for adults and $20 for children who are seventeen and younger. Unfortunately if you have bought a season pass you will not be able to use it today since this is a fund raising event.

There is a blizzard in today’s forecast for our area. This includes the possibility of high winds which could affect lift operations and which of the slopes are open today. With any luck this snow storm could make the amount of skiing available at Aspen Mountain and Snowmass on Thursday something we can all look forward to.  Thursday is official opening day for the public and all season pass holders.

The Aspen Skiing Company plans to open 44 trails and 403 acres at Aspen Mountain.  Those skiing Snowmass will have even more open with 610 acres. Everyone’s season passes are good beginning Thursday.

On Aspen Mountain, Copper Bowl and Copper Connector is planned to be open for even more  top-to-bottom skiing. This will make even more terrain on Bell Mountain and the east side of the ski area open, which includes the Back of Bell 2, Keith’s Glen and the Glades.

With the Silver Queen Gondola, Ajax Express and Gent’s Ride chair lifts open on Aspen Mountain skiers should have a great opening season.
